Insulated Sports Training Facility

fabric hockey rink structure

Project Description

Industry: Recreation
Application: Insulated Sports Training Facility
Building Size: 30′ x 45′ Building, anchored using FastCovers screw anchor and turnbuckled system, with a steel overhead door.

Building Features

FastCover builds a few hundred fabric covered buildings every year. A recent project is a sports training facility that we are currently completing. The exterior of the building looks like a very standard FastCover building, 30’ wide x 45’ long. This particular fabric structure is fully portable and requires only a level surface to be mounted on. The baserail system sits on top of the ground and the entire structure is anchored using our screw anchor and turnbuckle system. The typical all fabric roll-up door was swapped out for an insulated steel overhead door complete with electric lift and remote control openers. The accompanying walk in door is a steel insulated security door.

FastCover Building Applications

The list of applications for our buildings seems to be never-ending and we tackle each building project with the attention to detail and dedication to manufacturing quality that our customers expect. The vast majority of fabric structures that FastCover manufactures and erects are used for cold storage purposes such as commercial or industrial warehouses. Our structures are ideal for the storage of Commercial, Agricultural, Oil & Gas and Mining components and equipment. FastCover buildings are an integral part of improving equipment reliability and longevity by keeping valuable assets away from exposure to the harsh elements. We are seeing a significant rise in alternate uses for FastCover buildings such as light manufacturing, staging of sub-assemblies for further manufacturing, on-site safety & training facilities, and more unique uses such as sports training facilities. FastCover has the ability to adapt your structure to your specific application needs. You may want lighting, power, heat and remote doors which are just a few of the building options we can provide.

Skate in Comfort with a FastCover Fabric Covered Ice Rink!

Project Description

Industry: Recreation
Application: Outdoor covered hockey ice rink shelter
Building Size: 80′ x 130′ Structure with coverage starting 8′ off the ground.

Building Features

This fabric structure allows for lower maintenance costs and expands the season of the rink by protecting it from sun, snow, rain, wind and debris. The fabric is a high-density woven polyethylene with an ultraviolet inhibitor built into the membrane to increase longevity. The white cover transmits 80% of natural light to the interior of the building, eliminating the need for artificial lighting during daylight hours, even on a cloudy day. When daylight is no longer available, the bright white underside of the cover disperses artificial light more evenly so fewer light fixtures and lower utility costs are required to properly light the fabric structure. The trusses allow for easy installation of artificial lighting so the rink can be used 24/7.  During the summer months, the area is used for outdoor gatherings and is a great place to host community events. This particular FastCover building is mounted onto a concrete pad.

FastCover Building Uses

FastCover builds hundreds of fabric covered buildings each year. The list of applications for our buildings is never ending as we strive to work with all of our customers and exceed their expectations. We tackle each building project with the attention to detail and dedication to manufacturing quality that our customers expect. The traditional FastCover fabric structures were manufactured and used mostly for cold storage purposes such as agricultural, commercial or industrial warehouses. We are continuously seeing a demand for alternative uses of FastCover buildings such as light manufacturing, staging of sub-assemblies for further manufacturing, on-site safety & training facilities, even fully insulated structures. FastCover has the ability to adapt your structure to your specific application needs. You may want lighting, power, heat and remote doors which are just a few of the building options we can provide.

At FastCover we are more than cold storage.  Give us your building requirements and we can help get you there.

Riding Arena Instruction

Camp Nakamun Riding Arena

riding arena fabric structure

Project Description

Client: Camp Nakamun Riding Arena
Location:  Busby, AB
Building: 86′ wide x 204′ long riding arena

The Riding Arena at Camp Nakamun provides an all-weather venue for the Horsemanship clinics and classes as part of the wide array of activities that are offered.

Features

The sound dampening qualities of the fabric cover are ideal for instructor to student communication.  There are no echos inside the building and the quite, hushed atmosphere means instructors can communicate directly with students even over a larger area.

Viewing space was created along one wall by placing the side rails several feet inside the building walls so that spectators could be allow to view the riding events.  Because the side walls of the building are near vertical, the required clearance height for horse and rider is achieved without losing valuable interior space.  The building fabric covers allow a tremendous amount of natural light to pass through the cover which virtually eliminates shadows meaning horses are not spooked by dark corners of the building and riding space is maximized.

Located near Busby, Alberta, which is north of Edmonton, winter temperatures can exceed -30 with windchills of -40 and beyond.  Having the indoor riding arena means that no matter how nasty the weather outside, horsemanship instruction can still continue indoors.  The fabric building cover does not radiate heat and cold like steel building materials so the temperature inside is moderated and without wind, rain, and snow to worry about, the riding surface can be maintained in near ideal conditions year round.

Personal Storage

Project Description

Client: Darell A.
Location:  Prince Edward Island, Canada
Building: Portable Engineered Truss 38’ wide x 60’ long
Use: Personal Storage Building for recreational equipment and collector cars

“I needed extra storage and with my new FastCover I am now able to use my other building for my business. I heard about FastCover from a friend and when I called the sales person, she was very pleasant and went the extra mile to make sure everything went well for me. FastCover was the only company who asked me what I wanted instead of telling me what I wanted. My new Portable FastCover doesn’t require any type of cement footing which made it more cost effective. I installed it myself and anytime I had any questions they were just a phone call away. You will get good service here because they make you feel like a person and not just another sale. I have had my FastCover for one winter now and it stood strong in 120km. Very Impressive!”

  • Darell A.  Prince Edward Island, Canada

Features

  • The personal storage building cover includes green trim with the majority of the main cover white to match the other buildings on the property.
  • No artificial lighting was required in this application as the white fabric lets 80% of natural light through for great working conditions during daylight hours.
  • A 36”x80” steel insulated pre-hung man door was installed complete with sill and brickmold for a clean installation and keyed lock. This allows the customer easy access to the interior during off season to check on his “toys”.
  • The main overhead door is a 16’ wide x 15’ high fabric roll-up door with manual crank system. The door is secured to the baserail with ratchet straps when not in use and ball bungees secure the sides of the door to keep snow and rain out. This type of door is very cost effective especially in an application such as this one where the door is used less frequently due to the seasonality of the cars and boats stored inside.
  • The storage building easily provides ample room for additional boats or cars with room to polish and maintain them. As you can see the customer likes to keep both new and old muscle car technology plus his boats in pristine condition, out of the elements and ready to pound the pavement or waves.
